Benefits and privileges for credit cardholders

For spending related to hotel accommodation and car rental spending, the relevant merchant will obtain a preauthorised payment on a blank credit card voucher with the cardholder's consent during registration. Such preauthorisation is to ensure the mutual rights and benefits of both the cardholder and the hotel or car rental company. After payment is settled, if there is any outstanding amount, the merchant will have to present this preauthorisation voucher in order to collect outstanding funds. If the card holder has any objections against this amount, he/she will also have to request for the relevant receipts and vouchers for verification.

Signatures are no longer necessary for certain designated merchants such as food stalls, cinemas, and superstores if the purchase amount does not exceed NTD3,000.

Take note of the following conditions when conducting credit card transactions on the internet: NTD may be indicated as the transactional currency at certain internet shops. However, the acquiring bank may have stipulated other countries or other currencies as the default country/currency instead of using Taiwan/ NTD (this is because the issuing bank and merchant determine the default transaction country and currency based on the nature of the merchant and the product characteristics. These are not determined by our bank). This is why even though the transaction may be settled in NTD, if Taiwan or NTD is not the default option, the transaction must go through the clearing system of an international organisation, incurring overseas transaction fees as a result. So although you may be making an online purchase in Taiwan, and NTD is indicated as the settlement currency on the website, you may still be charged overseas transaction fees.
